Hoy comenzaron el día con un city tour recorriendo los principales puntos de interés y después los recibimos en ´ACE. Bienvenidos Feliz Año y el lunes comenzaremos a trabajar!

We welcome the students from the University of Texas at Arlington (USA) who come to the city of Buenos Aires for the Study Program at ´ACE. Today they began the day with a city tour visiting the main points of interest and then we welcome them at ´ACE. Welcome to ´ACE, Happy New Year and we´ll start working on Monday!

MAGDALENA SURANYI ARTISTA EN RESIDENCIA

Magdalena Suranyi nace en Argentina en 1985. Actualmente vive y trabaja en Londres. Artista interdisciplinaria que utiliza diferentes medios: pintura, serigrafía, performance e instalaciones, llegó a Buenos Aires para comenzar hoy su residencia de producción en nuestros talleres. Con la asistente de nuestra Masterprinter, Adriana Moracci, Magda está realizando un libro de artista que tiene como temática el abuso infantil. Bienvenida Magdalena a ´ACE!

Magdalena Suranyi was born in 1985 in Argentina. She is a painter, performer, print-maker and installation artist based in London, United Kingdom. Magda arrive to Buenos Aires to make a production residency at our workshop. With the assitance of Adriana Moracci, ´ACE Masterprinter, Magda is making an artist book about child abuse. Welcome to 'ACE Magdalena and enjoy your stay!

CLINICA DE OBRA POR ALICIA CANDIANI

Hoy fue un intenso día de clínica de obra por la directora de Proyecto´ace, Alicia Candiani. Artistas de diferentes disciplinas y edades han pasado hoy por ´ACE para recibir la mirada y la crítica de Alicia. Continuamos con esta actividad el próximo jueves 16 de diciembre. Los esperamos y desde ya muchas gracias a todos los que participaron de esta experiencia enriquecedora.

Today was an intensive day of protfolio review by the director of Proyecto´ace, Alicia Candiani. Artists from different disciplines and ages come today to´ACE to receive the specialized critic of Alicia about their work . This activity will continue on Thursday 16 December. We thank you very much to all the artists participating in this enriching experience.

CLINICA DE OBRA POR ALICIA CANDIANI

Debido a la gran demanda recibida para esta actividad se ha agregado un nuevo día : Jueves 16 de diciembre. Alicia Candiani, directora de Proyecto´ace, realizará clínica de obra los días jueves 9 y 16 de diciembre a aquellos artistas que quieran recibir una mirada diferente y enriquecedora sobre su trabajo. Abierta la inscripción!

Due to the high demand received for this activity a new date has been added: Thursday, 16 December. Alicia Candiani, Proyecto´ace director, will be doing portfolio review at ´ACE on December 9th and 16th. Registration open!

LA EDICION DE LESLEY YA COMENZO

Lesley Mitchell, la actual artista en residencia, está realizando un libro de artista que tiene como temática el Tango. Aunque el plan original era utilizar diversos procesos de agua fuerte, finalmente Lesley decidió utilizar la técnica de fotolitografía. Durante la última semana ha ido desarrollando los dibujos para el libro y aprendiendo a usar el Photoshop para importar texto. Hoy va a empezar a imprimir la edición con la asistencia de la Masterprinter Adriana Moracci.

Lesley Mitchell, current artist in residence, is making an artist's book on the subject of Tango. Though the original plan was to use various intaglio proccesses, in the end Lesley settled on photolithography. For the past week she has been developing the drawings for the book and learning to use photoshop in order to import text. Today, if all goes well, she'll start to pull the edition with assistance and guidance of Adriana Moracci, ´ACE Masterprinter.

La reconocida artista Graciela Sacco realizó clínica de obra dentro del Programa "Los Número 10 / La Nueva década" y conoció el espacio. Agradecemos su participación en esta programa que este año ha incorporado destacados artistas visuales contemporáneos, como es el caso de Graciela.

The renowned artist Graciela Sacco realized portfolio review within "The Number 10 / The New Decade" program. We welcome her participation in this program that this year has included prominent contemporary visual artists, such as Graciela.

ENCUENTRO DE RESIDENCIAS ARTISTICAS EN EL CCEBA

El lunes 8 de noviembre se llevó a cabo el Encuentro de Residencias Artísticas de Argentina/Paraguay/Uruguay en Buenos Aires en la sede de San Telmo del CCEBA. Más allá de las presentaciones que cada programa realizó durante la jornada, se discutieron las posibilidades de trabajo en conjunto entre los presentes, intentando generar proyectos a partir de este encuentro. Agradecemos a Wallace Vieira Masuko, coordinador de las residencias_en_red [iberoamérica] por generar este encuentro que seguramente tendrá sus frutos.

On Monday November 8th was held a meeting between the Art Residency Programs of Argentina / Paraguay / Uruguay in Buenos Aires at the headquarters of the CCEBA San Telmo. Beyond the presentation of each program made during the day, the possibilities of working together was discussed, trying to build projects and ideas. We thank Wallace Masuko Vieira, coordinator of residencias_en_red [iberoamerica] to generate this event, which will surely bear fruit.

RESIDENCIA DE LESLEY MITCHELL

Hoy comenzó a trabajar en su proyecto Lesley Mitchell nuestra actual artista en residencia, que realizará un libro de artista en una edición de 30 utilizando las técnicas de intaglio, chine collé, combinándolas con otros medios gráficos.

Today Lesley Mitchell began to work on her project, who will make an artist book in an edition of 30 using the techniques of intaglio, chine colle, combined with other graphic media.

Hoy recibimos la visita de Alejandra Winkhaus, profesora de Grabado del Instituto Santa Ana, junto a sus estudiantes. Conocieron el espacio, las muestras que se encuentran en exhibición y los talleres.

Today we received the visit of Alejandra Winkhaus, the Professor of Printmaking at the Santa Ana Institute, with hes students. They visit the space, the exhibitions and the workshop.

Hoy despedimos a Sara Tabbert, que ya regresa a Alaska después de su residencia y le damos la bienvenida a Lesley Mitchell, que llegó desde Filadelfia (USA) para comenzar su residencia el próximo lunes en ´ACE.

Today we farewell Sara Tabbert, who returns to Alaska after her residency and we welcome Lesley Mitchell, who came from Philadelphia (USA) to begin her residency next Monday at ´ACE.

UNIVERSITY OF ALASKA@ANCHORAGE

Hoy, día de crítica de obra para los estudiantes de gráfica de la cátedra de Garry Kaulitz en la Universidad de Alaska. Ví muchos y muy interesantes trabajos, además de tener una charla con ellos acerca del circuito profesional del arte.
Today students critiques for those enrolled in Garry Kautlitz printmaking courses. Mostly intermediate and advance undergraduate students. I looked to many interesting works and then I have a talk with the students about the international professional art circuits.

Dentro del programa como jurado invitada por la Universidad de Alaska en Anchorage, Alicia dio una conferencia sobre el autorretrato como genero a lo largo de la bistoria del arte y el Proyecto Autorretratos que lleva a cabo desde el ano 2006.
Alicia Candiani's lecture "Between Heaven and Hell: what do the artists reveal when they portrait themselves" in the Fine Arts Building at the UAA. The lecture addresses the self-portrait along art history and describes the Self Portrait Project works.

AUTORRETRATOS 7/SELF-PORTRAITS 7th: ALASKA

CUARTO DIA / FOURTH DAY

Hoy empezamos a trabajar en el Taller de Grabado de la UAA (Universidad de Alaska at Anchorage), la mayoría de los artistas tienen las imágenes terminadas. Hal Gage trajo las impresiones ya listas. Empezamos la segunda etapa en dónde las impresiones digitales seran cubiertas con dos diferentes coating, según mi técnica y la de Garry, que es parecida pero al mismo tiempo diferente. Algunos artistas luego le adicionarán otras capas de papeles transparentes, o tejidos, o realizaran costuras sobre ellas.

We started today working in the Printmaking Workshop of the UAA (University of Alaska at Anchorage). Most artists have the images finished. Hal Gage brought the works already printed. We began the second stage where digital prints will be covered with two different coating, with my technique as well as Garry´s own, which are similar but at the same time different. Some artists will then add other layers of transparent paper or tissue, or make add some other stuff on them.

PROYECTO AUTORRETRATOS/ SELF PORTRAIT PROJECT 7 Session

TERCER DIA / THIRD DAY

El tercer día del proyecto nos encuentra terminando las imagenes digitales que seran impresas esta noche por Hal. Mañana nos trasladamos de la Galería MTS al taller de grabado de la Universidad de Alaska, del cual Garry Kautlitz es profesor, dónde vamos a imprimir encima de ellas con diversas técnicas, según los proyectos de cada artista. Mientras tanto voy presentando a alguno de ellos:

The third day found ourselves finishing the digital images. Hal is going to print some of them tonight. Tomorrow morning we will move from the MTS Gallery to the University of Alaska Print Studio where Garry Kautlitz teaches. We are going to print on top of them with various techniques, according to each artist goals. Meanwhile I introduce some of the artist that are working in this session:

Cloud Medicine Crow (algo así como "Cuervo de la nube medicinal") es la traducción al inglés del nombre de este artista perteneciente a la tribu Hidatsa. Su autorretrato es una obra de fuerte contenido testimonial acerca del lugar en que la sociedad pone a los pueblos originarios. Esta tarde estuvimos trabajando en la incorporación a su propia imagen la de sus dos bisabuelos, de los que Cloud tiene la suerte de tener fotografías en sus vestimentas originales.

Cloud Medicine Crow is the English translation of this artist's name who belongs to the Hidatsa tribe. His self-portrait is a work of strong testimonial content about the place where society puts Native Americans. This afternoon we were working on incorporating to his own image those of his two great grandfathers, whose Cloud is fortunate to have photos in their original costumes.

Petra Lisiecki, fotógrafa profesional. Nacida en Alemania, pasó su juventud en Sudáfrica y ha vivido los últimos años entre Londres y Alaska. Es una persona y fotógrafa exquisita que trabaja sobre la música y la opera, ambos temas reflejados en su autorretrato.
Petra Lisiecki is an international professional photographer. She was born in Germany, spent her youth in South Africa and has lived the last years between London and Alaska. She is an extraordinary person and photographer who likes music and explores opera images as her main subject, themes that has been reflected both in her self-portrait.

En un hermoso día soleado con cerca de 10C (templado para estas latitudes) empezamos el Proyecto Autorretratos en la MTS Gallery de Anchorage, Alaska. Catorce artistas (entre los que se cuentan arquitectos, escultores, performes, fotógrafos, artistas gráficos, artistas textiles y pintores) integran esta 7ma Sesión.
On a beautiful sunny day, with around 55F (warm for these latitudes), the Self-Portraits Project begun at MTS Gallery in Anchorage, Alaska. Fourteen artists (including architects, sculptors, performers, photographers, printmakers , textil artists and painters) joined the 7th session.

"Alaska: la ultima frontera" es el slogan que recibe al viajero en el aeropuerto de Anchorage. No hace falta andar mucho para darse cuenta de la belleza de un territorio en el que la pureza del aire recorta las formas de la naturaleza como si estuvieran dibujadas y en el que el silencio y la quietud nos anuncian la Finis Terrae.
"Alaska: the last frontier" is the slogan that receives the traveler at the Anchorage’s airport. No need to go far to realize the beauty of an area where air purity cut out shapes of nature as if they were drawn while silence and stillness announce the Finis Terrae.

AUTORRETRATOS 7/SELFPORTRAIT 7th: ALASKA

La Galeria MTS alojará durante la semana del 18 al 22 de Octubre la 7ma edición del Proyecto Internacional Autorretratos, con artistas originarios y/o residentes en Alaska. La noche del viernes 15 la galeria inauguró "Inspiración", una exposición de artistas pertenecientes a los pueblos originarios de Alaska.
From October 18 to 22, MTS Gallery will host the 7th session of the Self-portraits International Project with artists from and / or residents of Alaska. On Friday 15th was the opening of "Inspiration", an Alaska native art exhibition.

Agradecemos a todos los que estuvieron presentes en este ´ACE nite donde se presentó el trabajo del artista en residencia Andrew Donohoe (Tasmania, Australia), la muestra fotográfica del artista cubano Kaloian Santos Cabrera y la obra de los artistas seleccionados a través de la convocatoria abierta "Entre Islas" realizada a través de Fusionarte Contemporáneo. Aquí compartimos algunas fotos de lo que fue el evento.
